Gaming Nerd
Dear Marsha.
I’m not sure if you’ve heard of a game called Runescape? Well if you have I’m sure you’ll agree its a great game. Anyhow there is a new CEO of the company Jagex, and he stated he loves the young ones coming in on the gaming world. As i read it over and over again, I decided I am very interested in gaming and computers, so why not do something to do with games. My question is what would suit me best and from 13 years old how would I be able to help myself from now till then?? Just to help with your answer I love to be interactive with people in games and talk to people and get feedback along side helping people , but I love to come up with ideas and so on. My question is which role would suit me and how would I pursue it from now on? Forwarding any good websites and so on would be a big help also thank you. also do you know of any free web design software because I don’t know if word press which I think is what your using is free.
Thanks,
the troubled kid gaming nerd

Dear Gaming Nerd,
I am happy that you have found what you think will be a very interesting and joyful career for you. It is important for each of us to be happy with our work or jobs if possible, to cut back on the stress.
I am familiar with Jagex and Runescape. Jagex actually stands for JAva Gaming EXperts. This name came about because they exclusively write their games using the Java language.
If you would like a better look at understanding the Java Language, I would suggest you visit the following site:

The career path you are looking for is called Video Game Design. In this area of study, there are several additional directions in which you could go such as Graphic Design/Web Design, Game Art and Design, 3D Modeling, Media Arts and Animation and many others.
Here are a couple of web sites that may help guide you in deciding which path you would like to follow:

I think a basic step you could take now to start preparing for your career would be to learn the basic HTML &/or CSS codes. The following website will help you to work with both for free:
I will now also guide you to a website that offers you to play as you learn. The following site allows you to build your own game. This could teach you how to use placement as well as imagination for your gaming desires.
Lastly, I will lead you to a couple of websites that offer you a place to build your own website for free using the pre designed layouts they have to offer. Here you can list your progress or show off some of the new things you have learned.

Oooo
Very interesting career, but I would personally forget all the codes, since as my theory says “short people got short term memory”. O: But not too be taken too seriously, since today I found a short person with good memory
.
I’m quite familiar with runescape you can meet alot of great people on there
.
I will also mention to try a developer tool such as rpgmaker2000 for beginners. Where to find it is as easy as a google link but make sure you don’t download from a cheezy looking place. Viruses and all
. I’m not sure if this still works but try gamingw.net? I’m too lazy to check it come back and retype what I said so sorry from a friend of Marsha’s. Brandon
It can also be a lil illegal in certain countries to sell 2000 games you develop for cash bear that in mind please. Thank you! And happy hobbying
.
O and you can download certain files used to make your chars look, and music to go with your rpg. like I said it’s for beginners try out the newer models for more of a challenge when you are ready. More options of course but that’s all I’m gonna talk about. Marsha didn’t even know I program a tad
.
