Dear Marsha,
My wife’s birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks and I want to get her something special, but she insists that I do not buy her anything due to our current financial status. What kind of gift ideas do you have that are nice yet available on a low budget that she may like?
Giftless
Dear Giftless,
This question immediately reminded me of a very unique and perfect gift that my husband made for me last year. He used nothing more than our computer, printer, card stock or poster board, printer paper, scissors, a glue stick, photo’s of the family, a piece of string, some sort of photo software or a copying machine, and his time.
You first of all search through all of her special photos either on her computer or in photo albumns. You can then scan photos if not already on the pc, or copy them on a copying machine. Never disturb or cut the original photos.
Next you will take your newly printed photos and cut them into different sizes and shapes. Then using either your card stock or posterboard cut to the size of a card, you will glue these photos on all 4 sides to form a collage of family or personal photographs.
You will now need to take a blank white or colored sheet of printer paper and fold it into the center of your collage card. This will be for your personal bithday wishes and message to her.
Finally you will use your string, (my husband used colored embroidery thread)and tie it around the inner fold of the card to hold your message and cardstock in place. Place the bow or knot on the outside of the card.
This is a very special, yet personal gift that will show you care enough to give her something from the heart.
Posterboard = $1.00
Embroidery thread = $.25
Glue Sticks = $1.00
Surprise on her face = PRICELESS!
Then if this idea does not appeal to you, there is always gifts such as a giving her a massage, cooking the meals for the day, baking her a cake, cleaning the house, watching her favorite movie together, or any combination of the above.
Always,
Marsha
